2 college wrestlers attacked by grizzly while hunting
Two Wyoming college wrestlers were ambushed by a grizzly bear over the weekend while hunting.
The two guys encountered the bear Saturday in Cody, Wyoming, while antler hunting west of the Bobcat Houlihan trailhead in the Shoshone National Forest, the Wyoming Game & Fish Department reported.
One man leaped on the bear to save Brady Lowry. Kendall Cummings said, "I grabbed him by the ear and yanked him hard."

The two guys escaped the attack and called 911, prompting Park County Search and Rescue and Wyoming Game & Fish Department employees to respond.

The two guys reached the trailhead with the help of a hunter, a local resident, and other members of their party, according to the Wyoming Game & Fish Department.
Authorities said one casualty was carried by helicopter and the other by ambulance.
Both men, Northwest College wrestlers in Powell, Wyoming, reportedly required many surgeries for torso and face lacerations. Reportedly, Lowry shattered his arm.

Cody Region wildlife supervisor Dan Smith thanked Park County Search and Rescue and the sheriff's office for their rapid response and coordination.
Authorities said footage seems to be a "sudden, surprise encounter with a grizzly bear."
Officials said there has been "abundant bear activity at low elevations" in the region in recent weeks and encouraged care in the area where the incident occurred.
Landowners and sportsmen said six to 10 bears roamed the area where the attack occurred. Game and Fish will continue to monitor bear activities and coordinate with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to ensure public safety.
"This is a sad and unfortunate scenario," Smith said.
Lowry and Cummings are thankful to have survived the attack.
"I'm not sure how I'll repay him. He's my hero "Brady Lowry said Cummings' prompt efforts may have saved his life. We'll be lifelong pals.
